I am a fan of Film Noir and when trying to watch several movies in the new Retro Vision section my Quicktime player quits and leaves a question mark in the middle of the screen. I have gone and updated every Apple program including of course Quicktime. However I still have not resolved the issue. Does anyone know what I should do or why this is happening? Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions. Peace, 74

i dont understand why quicktime is trying to hijack the movie..you dont need any kind of a media player to watch those movies , since they are not on your pc. All you are doing is executing a file and useing what ever player retrovision is useing...it would be the same as watching a youtube video. i havent used quicktine in quite awhile, so i cant remember, can you disable it with out dumping it off the computer, or can you turn it off?

Thank-you for the response. I will try to disable it or something like that. It got really frustrating but it only happened with a couple of movies so I am certain it is just a strange event. Peace, 74

Just so you know I ended up having to delete Quicktime from my system. Why, I have no idea based on the fact the movies stream independently on their own player! Maybe it has something to do with windows 7. Thank you again for your response. Peace, 74

I downloaded both products however they came with a bunch of other stuff. I know about all of them except the Driver Genius Repair software. Have you used the driver repair before and what do you think of it? Once again thank you for the help. I will now be using the VLC Media Player and Fox Tab Video to MP3 software. Thank you in advance for any answer to the above question. The Driver genius Professional Edition looks okay but sometimes companies put things on a system that only allows one to use their choice of Software or programs. I really do not want that to be the case. Peace, 74

Indeed I did and am happy with it so far. I did have to reinstall Quicktime because I have about 16 gig of Itunes music that will not play without Quicktime. I am about to find out if it was just a weird thing that caused Quicktime to interfer with my watching the movies or something worse (sigh). I am going to try to watch the movie again that I had problems and hopefully the issue is resolved. I sure hope it works! Peace, 74

I am about at my wits end. I have made the VLC player the default player for every possible playback or media event. I have disabled Quicktime and have it only for my Itunes. However when I go to watch the movie, The Big Combo (in the Film Noir section on page 2) it always brings up the Quicktime player and leaves a question mark in the middle of it and simply will not play it. I have done everything I can possible think of including all updates and add ons. The only way I can watch it is if I uninstall Quicktime. This is crazy and I would like to know if anyone else has tried to watch that movie and experienced any problems. It is not just that movie, while the majority of the movies are no problem any of them associated with Quicktime seem to have a problem. Or it could be an internal problem with my system which is really what I am trying to find out. Any help or ideas will be appreciated. I have run out of ideas! Thank you again for any help. peace, 74

i just tried it, and the movie plays fine for me...i think i have that movie on one of my drives let me locate it and i will add it to my playlist and you can watch it on my channel if you want.
If i might offer a word of advice here...apple designed Quicktime to be the only player that would play Itunes...but they dont tell you that, granted, Itunes is a wildly popular media source, but it is a one trick pony..apple has trapped you, and so now you either have to use their software or build your collection all over again. I may not have 16gig of music, but i have an awful lot and i can play it on any media player, i have 1000s of movies and videos and can play them on anything. My advice is look before you leap when it comes to this stuff, there are tons of music/video/movie bins out there and they are free and the stuff you download can be converted to any format you want
I had Quicktime on one of my Computers at some point in the past and i ended up deleteing it because i found it to intrusive on the rest of my media endeavors

Thanks Carol. actually that is exactly what I am doing. I am moving all my music to CD's and Windows Media. After that I will delete Quick Time and be done with it. I tried to get help from Apple and they were no help at all. You on the other hand have been a great help and I really appreciate your time and efforts. I will be done with Quick Time by the end of the weekend and hopefully be able to resume normal viewing. Peace, 74

what format does itunes use? mp3? Before you do all that with the cds, make a folder somewhere out of itunes...like "my documents" and then copy and paste a couple of the songs from itunes into that new folder and see if they will play on Vlc or whatever media player you have besides quick time. Quicktime might try to hijack it so i would dump quick time before you try. if that works, it would sure save you a ton of time
