Well I guess these our own little mini-boards. So I will use mine to share with you guys the three things I'm most passionate about. I have many interests that i am passionate about. But there are three that I don't think i could make it through life without. They have always been a part of my life and help shape me into who i am today. Those three things are Cars, Motorcycles, and Music. Not necessarily in that order. lets start with cars.
It's not only cars, but trucks to. Anything with a motor really. My father is a mechanic by trade that's what he did for work to support the family. It isn't glamorous work. But it is Honest. And it requires the skill set of a true craftsman. We didn't have a lot of money growing up. So one way my dad made extra money was to by older cars that needed some work. Put a few dollars into them here and there. Then when something came up, sell one. He always made a pretty good profit doing this. He always found good deals on the cars. It was better than money in the bank. It turned a better profit. We always had several Camaro's in the yard. And then others would come and go. A Roadrunner here. A Chevelle there. I remember a 72 stepside Chevy 4X4. One of those 60's flat nose chevy vans with the motor between the seats. It was black with airbrushed murals of wizards and half naked woman and stuff. lol. Tell me that doesn't screm 70's stoner wagon. I remeber a Black 69 Corvette convertable. It had a froze up m otor so he got it for next to nothing. Thats one of the ones he always talks about he wishes he would have kept. That and the 67 RS/SS 375 hp 396 Camaro. It was beautiful. Gold with blacke rally stripes. Most of my earliest and almost all of my best child hood memories are of working on those cars with my dad. Before i got to be a stubborn teenager and wanted to go do my own thing of course lol.
Cars also taught me the value of a dollar and work ethic. When I was old enough to get a license my partents didn't have money to by me a car. They wouldn't have anyway. They made me mow grass when I was ten to get a dirt bike I wanted. They weren't changing their tune now lol. So i found a beat up old rusted 77 Camaro at the salvage yard here in town. The two brothers that owned the yard agreed to give me the car and let me have any parts I needed for it plus 20 bucks a day to work there after school pulling parts that customers needed and getting cars ready to be crushed for scrap. You have to remove the fuel tanks, drain all the fluids, Keep anything they might be able to sell and make money on ect. So I would go there after school and work until 6 and then stay until 9 or 10 building my car. It really was a piece of crap. But it was my piece of crap and I had earned it. I got lucky and scored a 350 four bolt main motor out of an old wrecked suburban that somebody brought in. I got it for $50 and spent another $600 in parts from the Jeggs catalog. So it was a pretty fast piece of crap too lol.
My little prodject, as far as cars go, right now is my 88 Corvette. It is rough on the outside and the interior is out of it right now. But I have already went through the suspension. New leaf spring in the rear and ball joins front and back. Ever bushing, grommet and grease zerk is new. I had a buddy do the transmission. We prety much built it bulletproof. He says he has done a couple of them with this package
and should have no problems handling 800hp. The motor is a 383 stroker. Its running .202 late model oval port heads. 1.6 roller rockers and a GM performance LT4 Hot Cam. Stock compression so it will still burn pump gas. Running the stock tuned port manifold with High output injectors and a 1000 cfm throttle body from Edlebrock. Hooker shorty headers and 2 1/2 " stainless mandrel bent exhaust out to Magnaflos. Haven't dynoed it. But it should easly be making 450 hp.. now i am ready for the cosmetics. I already have all the new door, roof and back hatch weather stripping. New back hatch closers. All new emblems. and a glass top to glass top to go with the black one. I have a new dash on order. I have new instrument cluster. An analog one to replace the digital lcd one. The lcd ones are crap. They always burn out. Still have to do some minor body work and paint it. And get a new headlight motor lol It actaully does go gown but then it gets stuck closed. So it is unplugged. Then have all the intreior recovered. Then she will look as good as she runs.
If anybody else in here is into cars and or has some cool rides lets see them. Tomorrow I will post another section for my Bikes.
Peace out!
